Getting help for substance use is very valuable. One of the ways to get good advice is through interaction with others who are facing the same issues. Substance use group therapy activities can be an essential part of that interaction. While experts recommend individual therapy, many people who are facing substance use issues enjoy their group interactions. Through group interactions, they realize they are not alone and get the help and hope they need.
If you are struggling with addiction, Crestview Recovery wants to help you get the support you are looking for so you can have a healthy, stable future. A group therapy program in Portland, Oregon may be right for you. To find out, call us today at 866.262.0531.
Options for Substance Use Group Therapy Activities
There are many substance use group therapy activities you can engage in that may help you have a successful recovery. We offer several options and work with groups to help more people get better faster. Options for activities can include things like discussing triggers, talking about gratitude, and making lists of activities that you enjoy. Charades, role-playing, and physical fitness are also ways to interact with the group. By talking about nutrition, self-care, and educational subjects during substance use group therapy activities, it also becomes easier to find common ground with other people on your same journey.
It is not always easy to open up to people you do not know very well. But as you work with a group, you will soon find that there are a lot of similarities. You may have more in common with some group members than you expected to and could form strong and lasting friendships. This is an excellent way to help yourself in recovery because you can surround yourself with sober friends who are focused on and dedicated to clean living. When you have an environment that does not promote substance use, it is easier for you to stay on your recovery path and make healthy choices for your future.
Choose a Treatment Center You Can Rely On

If you are in the Pacific Northwest, we are here to help you live a healthy life. Some of the treatment programs and services we can offer to you include:
Partial Hospitalization
A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is an intensive outpatient addiction treatment program that provides comprehensive, holistic care in a structured environment. This is a great option for those who need more structure than an IOP, but who don’t require 24-hour care.
Intensive Outpatient
An intensive outpatient program (IOP) provides a less intensive version of the care provided in an inpatient setting. This type of program is perfect for those who need more support than weekly therapy sessions, but who don’t need around-the-clock care.
Outpatient
Outpatient treatment enables individuals to receive care and support while living at home. Outpatient programs are typically less intensive than residential or PHP programs.
Aftercare
Aftercare helps individuals maintain long-term sobriety. Aftercare plans are designed to provide continued support and resources for those in recovery following their initial treatment program.
Extended Care (90-Day Program)
Extended care (90-day program) provides intensive and sustained support beyond traditional residential or outpatient programs.
Dual Diagnosis Treatment
Dual diagnosis treatment helps individuals who are struggling with both a substance use disorder and a mental health disorder. The goal is to help individuals manage both disorders so they can lead a healthier and more productive life.
Trauma Therapy
Trauma therapy helps individuals identify, process, and heal from traumatic experiences. This type of treatment focuses on increasing understanding of how trauma has impacted an individual’s life, learning healthy coping strategies to manage symptoms, and developing healthy relationships with others.
Individual Therapy
Individual therapy provides individualized support and guidance to those in recovery. It typically involves weekly one-on-one sessions with a counselor focusing on the individual’s specific needs and concerns.
